RAHUL NATH

 

Rahul Nath is a British Indian known as an actor, dancer, writer and director

Nath shot into the public eye in 2006 when he rejected a series regular role on a popular UK medical drama and he told the media that he wanted variety in his career.  In the same year he established himself as a theatre darling by appearing in two major London based plays. In 2008, Nath was officially shipped over to the USA to star in a FOX TV pilot and at the same time he was signed up by major brands to endorse their products, which included Intel, State Farm Insurance, Jack in the Box, TravelZoo, Virgin America and Nintendo.  In 2010 he took on the role of writer and director and released two movies called Foreign and Compromise. The first has won many awards on the film festival circuit including Best Actor and Best Director for Nath. The second released in Aug 2011, and has already gained award status at prestigious film festivals in the USA, with an expected release at other international film festivals . Nath also became a judge for popular Bollywood dance competitions following the success of his dancing career and was asked to be a judge for the popular Star TV network.  In 2010, he released his very own fitness DVD, Bollywood Aerobics that has had a huge success in the USA 

 

EARLY LIFE

 

Nath was born in London, UK and grew up in the district of Hounslow. He is the second of two children. Nath's parents are originally both from India

 

As a small child, Nath had a huge interest in dancing and acting but due to family pressure gave up his passion for a more realistic career.  He gained entry into one of the most prestigious dental hospitals in the UK - Guys Hospital and qualified in 2002.  In his time at the university he participated in many dance shows and also partook in an acting course at the notable "Questors Theatre", whose president is Judi Dench. It was from here the opportunities began to open.  He appeared in many TV shows including Casualty, Holby City and Footballer Wives and was also seen in British Indian films including Provoked and Naina

THEATRE

From June 2006 to Sep 2007, Nath starred in the original productions of Frederic Durriment's "The Visit" and the controversial Terrance Rattigan's "Separate Tables". In the latter he played the leading role of Major Pollack, a role made famous by David Niven, for which Niven won the Oscar.  For "The Visit", Nath was awarded Best Actor as the conniving and deceitful Burgomaster.  Nath was nominated for several awards thereafter for his two roles above

FILM AND TELEVISION

In 2004, Nath made his television debut on the BBC and ITV in the UK winning leading roles in Casualty and Footballer’s Wives. That same year, he was signed on to big budget British Indian film productions that involved Provoked with India’s superstar Aishwariya Rai and also treaded his foot in the estabahlised Bollywood film industry. At the same time he was asked to choreograph some of India’s biggest dance numbers that built up his resume very quickly.  He was offered prime roles in the Bollywood industry, but rejected them as he felt his heart was not in the projects offered. Up to 2008 he was being extremely selective about what role types he wanted to do, and was labeled as arrogant, but all changed when he auditioned for a FOX TV pilot and took the chance and shifted to the USA. The following year, in 2009, Nath went on to endorse products for Intel, Jack in the Box, State Farm Insurance, Disney and many more, and was seen as a commercial wonder. In 2010 began the climb to the top as his multi talents were showcased.  He released a fitness DVD that combined some of the latest and hottest moves from the Bollywood film industry with a nonstop heart pumping workout.  The sales of the DVD were explosive, but at the same time he released his own production called Foreign, which earned him several awards at various international film festivals.  He received a huge amount of critical and commercial acclaim for playing a bold subject and also tackling such a sensitive issue.  In 2011 he released his second home production called Compromise, which took boldness to another level and has been praised for his commitment to reality and dark subjects.  In the same year he was also signed to be the face of Virgin America and TravelZoo and was also asked to judge the dance skills of hopefuls who were battling it out to win a place to dance a Bollywood number with superstar Hrithik Roshan as a prize.
